Covid-19 Two Years Later: Are We Following the Science We Already Knew?

The scientific literature was clear in 2020, and it still is: Lockdowns don't work. But, unfortunately, nobody was allowed to talk about it until now. So those of us who read the research and history books back then feel we may speak more freely without fear of disdain, ridicule, or censorship. We read the studies from the vaccine companies that clearly never looked at prevention or spread, only symptoms. So how anyone could say with a straight face that the vaccines were going to prevent Covid-19 from spreading is anybody’s guess. We also knew the previous studies on masks and quarantining showed they are of no use. We also knew:

  1. Having underlying illnesses increases your odds of a bad case. Conversely, the young and healthy generally survive with milder cases.

  2. The majority of us are ignorant of the actual death rate from year to year and that it has not changed much from Covid but is now up 40% from other causes.

  3. Masks, lockdowns, passports, and school closures would be futile.

  4. Being healthy makes us much less prone to catching a bad case.

  5. High vitamin D is helpful.

  6. Mass formation was on the rise.

  7. Covid-19 is treatable.

  8. The vaccines went through less than one-tenth the normal testing.

The information I mentioned above runs contrary to what the authorities are saying, making it difficult to report opposing arguments. But things are changing. The media and politicians are having trouble maintaining their narratives.

For instance, just recently in The Studies In Applied Economics Journal, a January 2022 paper entitled A LITERATURE REVIEW AND META-ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECTS OF LOCKDOWNS ON COVID-19 MORTALITY by Jonas Herby, Lars Jonung, and Steve H. Hanke stated that "The evidence fails to confirm that lockdowns have a significant effect in reducing COVID-19 mortality. The effect is little to none. The use of lockdowns is a unique feature of the COVID-19 pandemic. Lockdowns have not been used to such a large extent during any of the pandemics of the past century. However, during the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, lockdowns have had devastating effects. They have contributed to reducing economic activity, rising unemployment, reducing schooling, causing political unrest, contributing to domestic violence, and undermining liberal democracy. These costs to society must be compared to the benefits of lockdowns, which our meta-analysis has shown are marginal at best. Such a standard benefit-cost calculation leads to a strong conclusion: lockdowns should be rejected out of hand as a pandemic policy instrument.

What Does the Future Hold?

Perhaps our politicians will heed reports from the likes of Johns Hopkins and others and back off. Most likely not because of new data, not for our sake, but the sake of their careers. The poll numbers are terrible for most of our politicians. If there is one thing they pay attention to and react to, it's the polls. So there is a chance we will get a break in this important mid-term election year.

Maybe they will provide some commentary on the following:

  1. Keeping better data and learning what worked and what did not, especially with the vaccines. But, sadly, the CDC stopped tracking whether new cases infect the vaccinated or the unvaccinated. We also have no viable system for reporting the side effects of the vaccines. We don't differentiate which vaccines people get; we treat them as if they are all the same formulation, which they are not.

  2. Addressing the intense censorship of potentially useful information.

  3. Pulling together in unity against Covid-19 until the end. We are a fragmented society in a desperate conflict between government control and freedom.

  4. Stopping the government from marginalizing the unvaccinated Americans and blaming them for the pandemic.

  5. Addressing big pharma's capture of our governmental institutions and putting control back in the hands of people who don't have a financial interest in bringing pharmaceuticals to market.

  6. Putting an end to calling contrary views "misinformation." Sadly, it is a useful tool to potentially turn the government's power against people they deem to harbor conspiracy theories or undermine public trust in the government.

  7. Admitting the lockdown and mandates did not work.

  8. Stopping the promotion of fear.

The following summarizes most of my posts about the pandemic over the last two years.

March 18, 2020

I noticed that people with other illnesses were at risk.

My first post was entitled HOW TO AVOID BEING A SUSCEPTIBLE HOST, in which I spoke about comorbidities.

Two Covid-based posts later, I presented CDC and Italian data in a post called COVID-19: SURVIVAL ODDS DECREASE DRASTICALLY IF YOU HAVE ONE OR MORE CHRONIC DISEASES to prevent the widespread panic that Covid-19 was an indiscriminate killer, as the media and some scientists were spreading fear by not educating the public that there were at-risk populations while the average person had much less to fear from a case of Covid-19.

April 6, 2020

I knew if we stuck together, we would be ok.

In this post called COVID-19: WITH COMMON GOALS, DISCIPLINE, AND DETERMINATION WE WILL PREVAIL mused that because we were in uncharted waters, Some initiatives and recommendations may prove useless, others miraculous, but over time, we will have more and more focus on our plans. I spoke about the vaccines becoming available to end the pandemic. Unfortunately, the vaccines did not end it, but they divided us.

April 13, 2020

I noticed we were dying of many diseases, not just Covid.

By April of 2020, it was clear that the media and global leaders had successfully seized the narrative claiming that Covid-19 was The singular threat to our existence. So I wrote ALL-CAUSE VERSUS COVID-19 MORTALITY: WHY I ALSO CARE ABOUT OTHER DISEASES TOO for my readers who could still see the bigger picture.

January 11, 2021

I noticed that the death rate did not rise noticeably after about one year of the disease

I suspected that the number of people dying was overblown, so I compiled the total number of deaths from CDC data during the pandemic and all other deaths by any cause going back to 1900. The post is called CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC STATISTICS: HAVE WE LOST THE FOREST FOR THE TREES?

April 12, 2021

I noticed the potential creation of scapegoats.

After one year of Covid-19 hype, I began to notice a strong polarization in my patient population. So I wrote a retrospective on the pandemic called WHETHER OR NOT TO GET THE COVID-19 VACCINE: A CONTROVERSY FOUNDED IN MISUNDERSTANDING

September 13 and 14, 2021

I noticed misinformation from the government. President Biden told us that the vaccine would prevent Covid-19 and were safe. But unfortunately, neither one of his statements is completely true.

On September 9, 2021, the president announced vaccine mandates-the push for government control was on the rise. You can read what I had to say a few days later by reading MANDATORY COVID VACCINES: DOES IT ALL ADD UP?

https://covid-19.ontario.ca/data

The next day I wrote a piece called CORONAPHOBIA, HERD MENTALITY, OPPORTUNISTS, AND THE DUNNING KRUGER EFFECT. I quoted John Adams, who said, "Fear is the foundation of most government(s)."

October 16, 2021

I lamented medicine's capture by big business.

I wrote THE DECLARATION OF HEALTH INDEPENDENCE to alert you that the government and large corporations were in the persuasion game and were acting in unison to push the vaccine instead of early treatment.

November 8, 2021

I wrote about mass formation.

I posted THE DANGEROUS PHENOMENON OF MASS FORMATION because Mattias Desmet had given the condition of government overreach over a frightened population the name of mass formation. My mention of mass formation was five weeks before Dr. Peter McCullough (now infamously) used the term in an interview with Joe Rogan and almost seven weeks before Dr. Robert Malone did likewise.

November 29, 2021

I realized nobody knew Covid was treatable.

Sadly, there is a lack of information about the treatments for Covid-19, so I wrote DO YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET COVID (ESPECIALLY THE OMICRON VERSION)?

December 27, 2021

I encouraged solidarity.

My holiday message was called THE SEASON OF HOPE. I mentioned how our physical health depends more on intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, vocational, and financial health than medicine.

January 3, 2022

My first post of this year was appropriately called HAPPY NEW YEAR. In the post, I urged us to make 2022 a better year by uniting to restore rational thought, getting medicine back in the hands of doctors, tuning out the mainstream news, and voting out politicians who don't understand that we are born with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

We have, for the most part, learned to live with Covid. Unfortunately, the division sown by the media and government is the real problem. Hopefully, we can vote for more sober politicians. We should reject the messages of fear. Those skeptical about the "fifteen days to flatten the curve" were originally branded as paranoid and conspiracy theorists. Numerous business closures, firings, lockdowns, masks, and vaccine mandates later, have vindicated them.

Canada recently declared martial law and is now seizing people's bank accounts who disagree with the government. The move was extremely unpopular. Hopefully, our government won't go that far. Still, this February 7, 2022 statement by the Department of Homeland Security is a step in the wrong direction:

"The United States remains in a heightened threat environment fueled by several factors, including an online environment filled with false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories, and other forms of mis- dis- and mal-information (MDM) introduced and/or amplified by foreign and domestic threat actors. These threat actors seek to exacerbate societal friction to sow discord and undermine public trust in government institutions to encourage unrest... While the conditions underlying the heightened threat landscape have not significantly changed over the last year, the convergence of the following factors has increased the volatility, unpredictability, and complexity of the threat environment: (1) the proliferation of false or misleading narratives, which sow discord or undermine public trust in U.S. government institutions..."

Is it me, or has our government also acted as threat actors seeking to exacerbate societal friction to sow discord and undermine public trust in government institutions to encourage unrest? The government is warning us we could be branded as terrorists because we don't like their methods. I believe they are doing plenty to undermine their credibility on their own. Who knows what the future holds. But, hopefully, we will heal the divide.
